Who's Racing At The 2023 Wild West Shootout?

The 2023 dirt late model season will begin in style this weekend with many of the nation's best racers making their way to Vado Speedway Park for the Wild West Shootout. While the event typically sees a strong display of talent, this year's list of expected entries is one of the most impressive groups of drivers the event has seen in recent years.

Headlining the list of drivers planning to compete in this year's Wild West Shootout is 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion and dirt racing superstar Kyle Larson. The Elk Grove, California native is expected to compete in all six nights of racing at Vado Speedway Park as he makes his debut at the track and prepares for another busy racing season.

Another driver preparing to make his first start at Vado Speedway Park is last year's hottest dirt late model drivers, Jonathan Davenport. While it will be his first start at the New Mexico dirt track, he's no stranger to success at the Wild West Shootout with two previous championships at USA Raceway and Arizona Speedway.

Defending Wild West Shootout champion Mike Marlar will be returning to Vado, New Mexico this year to chase his third career mini-series championship.

Another two-time champion, Brandon Sheppard, will also be competing in the event in his new Longhorn chassis. 2017 Wild West Shootout champion Bobby Pierce is also expected to be in attendance throughout the week.

Getting back behind the wheel of a race car for the first time since his emotional Gateway Dirt Nationals win in December will be Tyler Erb, who was part of a memorable finish during last year's event.

Other drivers to keep an eye on during the Wild West Shootout include Johnny Scott, Stormy Scott, Ricky Weiss, Billy Moyer, Chris Simpson, Garrett Alberson, Rusty Schlenk and Cade Dillard. The full list of over nearly 60 expected entries can be viewed below.

The 2023 Wild West Shootout gets underway Saturday night with a $5,000-to-win feature. Another night of racing will be on tap for Sunday before a two-day break leading into Wednesday's racing. Another night off on Thursday will set the stage for three straight nights of racing, including the $25,000-to-win finale on Saturday, January 16.

If a driver can win all six features, he or she will receive a $300,000 bonus as part of the Penske Racing Shocks $300,000 Paydirt Jackpot. The bonus program also includes a $100,000 incentive for five wins and a $25,000 bonus for four miniseries victories at the state-of-the-art New Mexico oval.

Fans unable to make it out to Vado, New Mexico will be able to watch all six nights of racing live on FloRacing. If you're not already a FloRacing subscriber, click here to sign up today.
