Amid all the talk and the absence of names, only one thing is guaranteed – the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals isn’t going anywhere.

While former champions Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell are choosing to forgo one of the most prestigious events in all of Motorsports, 360+ other diehard racers will return to Tulsa, Oklahoma to chase the iconic Golden Driller. The 37th annual running already includes the third-highest car count in event history and the anticipation remains through the roof.

Although Larson and Bell will not be competing, new faces and contenders have emerged to vie for a Lucas Oil Chili Bowl crown – a race proclaimed as “The Super Bowl of Midget Racing."

A faithful following of 350+ racers and 15,000+ fans will still pile into the SageNet Center to enjoy one of the greatest weeks of the year. The star power is still through the roof, too, headlined by five former champions including Tanner Thorson (2022), Rico Abreu (2015-16), Sammy Swindell (1989, 1992, 1996, 1998, 2009), Damion Gardner (2008), and Tim McCreadie (2006).

Other notable names chasing their first Golden Driller include NASCAR winners Alex Bowman and Chase Briscoe, USAC champions Buddy Kofoid, Justin Grant, and Kody Swanson, plus former Chili Bowl A-Main starters like Jerry Coons Jr., Shane Cottle, Shane Golobic, Thomas Meseraull, Chris Windom, Zach Daum, Daryn Pittman, J.J. Yeley, Jonathan Beason, Michael Pickens, Brady Bacon, Logan Seavey, Blake Hahn, C.J. Leary, Spencer Bayston, and many, many more.

The absence of Larson and Bell, who have occupied podium positions for six-straight years, opens the door for a new household name(s) to be established. After all, the Chili Bowl has been creating legends since 1987, and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. There’s a reason that the waitlist for tickets to this one-of-a-kind extravaganza is years and years long.

Tulsa has been a winter destination for race fans for almost four decades, and that will be no different next week when the Chili Bowl offers six consecutive nights of racing. Preliminary nights from Monday-Friday will feature 70+ racers each with complete programs showcasing some of the most exciting racing and biggest upsets imaginable.

On Saturday, it’s the famed alphabet soup with double O-Main’s leading all the way up to the 55-lap Championship A-Main in memory of Donnie Ray Crawford. This year, every single lap from Monday through Saturday can be seen live on FloRacing.
