The World of Outlaws Sprint Car series has lost another full-time driver with the departure of Paul McMahan.

Starting this upcoming weekend, McMahan will be leaving the driver's seat and taking over as team manager at Destiny Motorsports. His family friend, 18-year-old Parker Price-Miller, will be taking over McMahan's ride on Friday when the Outlaws return to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

This is the second major departure from the Outlaws this summer. Joey Saldana was let go from Stenhouse Jr./Wood Racing on June 23. Saldana quickly rebounded, winning the next week at Wayne County Speedway on July 1 in his first start with All Star Circuit of Champions after parting ways with the Outlaws.

Jac Haudenschild took up residency in the WoO No. 17.

McMahan made it known that this is not the end of his racing career and that he plans on running a 40-50 race schedule in 2018.

"First and foremost, I am not done racing by any means," Paul McMahan said in a team press release. "Having a lot of deep and thorough conversations with (team owner) Rick Rogers, this move was the best thing for Destiny Motorsports moving forward, and I have all the confidence in the world that Parker will do a great job, and I am looking forward to working with him as a mentor.

"It is a little bittersweet to step aside, but in the big picture the timing makes sense to allow everyone to get a head start on the 2018 season."

This is not the first time that Parker-Miller has driven the Destiny sprinter. He filled in for McMahan after a bad crash at Silver Dollar Speedway put McMahan out of commission at the end of last year's World of Outlaws West Coast swing. At the time of the announced substitution, McMahan was excited for the young driver saying that "[he] is a great kid with a ton of talent, and I think he will represent us well while I recover."

While this year's West Coast swing didn't end in injury, it did see the veteran driver hurting for good feature finishes. His average finish was 14.4 in seven races, and he did not advance to the A-main in one of the eight nights.

Price-Miller will make his full-time debut in the car this week at Eldora Speedway after competing in the Canadian Nationals this weekend.

Price-Miller won the Kevin Ward Jr. Young Stars Challenge on Friday night at Ohsweken (Ontario) Speedway. Carson Macedo, who traveled up north with Price-Miller and McMahan's son Brayden, won the feature in back-to-back nights of the Canadian Nationals. Price-Miller finished 18th in Saturday night's A-main.

Price-Miller had a lot people to thank for helping him through the transition and his season so far, but he made sure to end his thank you with a heartfelt shout out to McMahan for pressuring Destiny to take the chance on such a young driver as his substitute.

"I have to thank Justin Agee for believing in me these last two years and giving me a great opportunity to drive for him," Price-Miller said. "I will always be thankful for what he and Agee Farms did for me, and I am excited that they, along with Triple X and CSI, will continue support me in my new venture. Hill's Family Racing and Tow Line Variety have also played a huge role in my career over the last few years, and I am hoping to run well for them tonight in Canada, and I also owe them a lot."

The driver change reportedly has nothing to do with performance. Instead, it has to do with extending the longevity of the race team, which has undergone a few driver changes during the span of the last five years. Still, the team has struggled with finishes this year, tallying 23 top 10s but only three top fives and zero wins. Price-Miller has one World of Outlaws win this season, his first, on May 14 at Tri-State Speedway.

Rogers said he and his wife, Barb, continue to support McMahan and that the veteran driver has a home at Destiny for as long as he want it.

"I really want people to understand that this is not a performance based move, and in fact it is a move and an idea that Paul brought to us to be able to keep our team racing with the best," Rogers said. We have been fortunate to get to know Parker after he filled in for Paul in 2016, and we are very excited to team up with him and watch him develop as a racecar driver. We know he can stand on the gas, and that's big because he has some big shoes to fill, and we look forward to having him represent Destiny Motorsports."
