Dale McDowell took the Ultimate Southeast wins' lead with his third victory of the season at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee in the Scorcher.
Dale McDowell took the Ultimate Southeast wins lead with his third victory of the season in the Scorcher at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, on Thursday night. And he did so without looking back. McDowell led all 50 laps of the A-Main.
McDowell makes only limited starts in the Ultimate series, but he has made the most of them with three victories and a worst result of third. His previous two wins came at Volunteer and Rome (Georgia) Speedway this May.
McDowell now owns the most wins in series competition this year ahead of Brandon Overton with two wins. Overton was not a threat at Volunteer, finishing 16th with a tire problem midway through the race.
McDowell had to battle Ross Bailes for the victory. Making his seventh start of the season, Bailes has a current four-race streak of sixth-place results or better.
Vic Hill rounded out the top three. In only his second Ultimate series race this season, he also has a sweep of the top five. Hill finished fifth this May in the Freedom Isn't Free 50 at Volunteer.
Points' leader Tyler Millwood finished eighth in the race, but that was enough to extend his advantage over second-place Jason Welshan, who finished 11th.
Dennis Franklin is third in the standings and narrowed the gap just a little with a fifth-place result.
