Rookie of the Year Contender Tyler Millwood leads the Ultimate Super Late Model Series
By Jonathon Masters
Among the major touring Dirt Late Model Series, none carry with it as diverse a winner list at the Ultimate Super Late Models. So far in 2017, 11 drivers have won in 13 events.
The points race for the Ultimate Super Late Models is currently led by Rookie of the Year favorite Tyler Millwood of Cartersville, Georgia. Millwood leads Jason Welshan by 19 points atop the standings, and veteran driver Dennis "Rambo" Franklin from Gaffney, South Carolina, is also in the hunt.
Everyone from national superstars such as Scott Bloomquist and Shane Clanton to regional heroes such as Johnny Pursley and John Ownbey have found their way to Victory Lane this season. The only repeat winners of 2017 have been Dale McDowell and Brandon Overton, with two wins each.
Ultimate Super Late Models has become a truly unpredictable series, and its events are a joy for fans. It harkens back to a day in dirt racing when you never knew who might show up and adds an element of excitement that much of modern dirt racing has lost. The best part about the series is that the surprises and excitement do not end with single events.
