Ahnna Parkhurst earned her second win in a 604 late model at Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC, on Sunday, and 16-year-old dedicated her return to Victory Lane to the memory of her late mother, Laurie Parkhurst.

Ahnna's mother passed away from cancer on June 9 after battling the disease for more than a decade.

"Winning last night was so special to me," Ahnna. "There was a strong field of crate cars there and I had my doubts going into the race. But my mom was watching over me and helped me race my way to a win!"

The last time FloRacing talked to Parkhurst, the Evans, Georgia, native was fresh off a win at Swainsboro Raceway in her 602 late model. Since then, Parkhurst has added two wins -- both in her 604 Crate Late Models.

Last month, a 604 win was her No. 1 goal.

"I want that win in the 604 late models so bad," Parkhurst said. "That's what I'm really chasing, but it's good to win in the 602 because it builds up the whole team's confidence and especially because my mom had gotten real sick during the week so it was good that we were able to get that. I still want that 604 win, and hopefully in the NeSmith series we can get one this year. That would be great."

Her first of the two wins came on May 28, where she won from the pole position at Rome (GA) Speedway. Her mother had a chance to see her grab that emotional win.

On Sunday night, Parkhurst recorded the fastest time overall in the 11-car field and was awarded the pole for the A-main. A late-race caution gave her tires a chance to cool so she could out run a last-effort charge by Cla Knight.

Matt Henderson, Josh Bishop, and Cole Godowns rounded out the top five.

Parkhurst is a developmental driver for Richard Childress Racing. Austin and Ty Dillon regularly return to their racing roots to race for the same late model team as Parkhurst. Austin paid tribute to the late Laurie Parkhurst.
