10 Top 5s In The Past 11 Races Lands Tim McCreadie Second In The Rankings
Brandon Sheppard continues to lead the FloRacing Late Model Power Rankings for another week, but Tim McCreadie jumped four spots and closed ground.

The current World of Outlaws Late Model Series points leader Sheppard is the undisputed leader with a current streak of eight consecutive top fives. In that span of races, he won at Fayetteville (NC) Motor Speedway, Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, and in the most recent race at Senoia (GA) Raceway. It does not matter where the series goes, Sheppard has been fast throughout the entire show with a worst starting position of sixth in the past eight races.

McCreadie is a fairly distant second with a percentage point average of 84.82 to Sheppard's 89.60, but the difference is much slighter if one compares only the last eight events. The Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series driver has also swept the top five in that span of time with one victory in a preliminary race for the Show-Me 100. T-Mac has had to overcome some poor starting spots -- in part because of the massive car counts at Luca Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO -- but that only adds to his mystique.

Shane Clanton sits third in the rankings with a percentage point average of 84.71. While he has not swept the top five, he has remained in striking distance of McCreadie by winning Outlaws races at Cherokee Super Speedway in Gaffney, SC, and last week's Ray Varner 50 at Tazewell (TN) Speedway. The 100 points earned for that race allowed him to jump over Don O'Neal and Scott Bloomquist, who faded three positions.

O'Neal dropped two positions from second to fourth in the rankings, and his demise is entirely attributable to a rough Show-Me weekend. In the night one Cowboy Classic, he struggled through prelims and started deep in the field. He was able to make up only three positions during the race and finished 20th. In the big 100-lap show, he was 15th and both performances hurt his average.

Fifth-ranked Josh Richards also struggled during night one of the Show Me 100. He finished fourth in a B-main and failed to advance in a field of more than 60 cars, but he swept the top 10 in the next two nights. Despite missing one of the features, he moved up in part because a 15th-place finish in the Buckeye Spring 50 from Atomic Motor Speedway in Oak Ridge, TN, aged out of the formula.
