Summer Sizzlin' Speedweek Heats Up The ASCS
After a rash of rainouts in the past two months, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series will get back into action in a big way on Friday, June 9. For the 25th season, the ASCS will host the Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek.

This year's slate of races features stops in Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri, with seven events in nine nights.

The start of the week will test the drivers' abilities to get up to speed after a long hiatus -- not only during the season but on the first couple of venues as well.

ASCS returns to West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas, for the first time in 13 years, which means most of the drivers in the field will not have seen it in competition.

Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas, returned from a 13-year hiatus last season with Sam Hafertepe Jr. heading to Victory Lane. He has won all but one of the six ASCS races held this season, so the odds are good that he is going to challenge for the win again.

After a two-day break, the series heads to the other side of the state for a stop at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite. This will be the series' second trip to the track, and it is a track where Hafertepe has already seen success in 2017.

On June 14, the ASCS travels to Oklahoma for stops at Lawton Speedway and Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa.

June 16 starts a two-night trip to Missouri with shows at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland.

On the strength of five wins, Hafertepe enters the week with a fairly comfortable lead over the rest of the field, but with such a compact schedule, anything can happen to shake up the standings. And, look for some pretty significant changes coming to the FloRacing Sprint Car Power Rankings
