Rico Abreu Jumped 18 Positions In This Week's FloRacing Power Rankings
The two biggest sprint car series did not run any races last week, but the FloRacing Sprint Car Power Rankings never rest. To track recent momentum and strength, the formula looks at the past 60 days.

Even when new results are not being added to the database, the rankings change as drivers no longer get the benefit of strong runs that occurred more than two months prior.

The opposite is also true. Drivers are no longer penalized for races in which they struggled that fall outside that parameter.

That is why Rico Abreu was the big mover this week. He climbed from 25th to seventh. The last two nights of the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia County Speedway in Barberville, FL--races in which he finished 21st and 24th--dropped out of his tally this week. That vaulted him 18 positions up the grid.

Abreu has not been perfect in the past nine events with another pair of 20-something runs, but five of the remaining seven were top fives. The part-time Outlaw won in his most recent outing at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, AZ.

With his record of five wins in five races in the American Sprint Car Series, Sam Hafertepe Jr. easily held onto the top spot this week with 89.83 percentage points. A total of 100 percent is perfect. The only thing lowering his number is a modest showing from an Outlaws race in early March.

With 89.20 percentage points, Johnny Herrera is not far behind Hafertepe. As soon as the series gets back into competition, Herrera will have an opportunity to make up some ground. To do that, he will have to beat Hafertepe in a race, and no one has been able to do that yet in 2017.

David Gravel and Donny Schatz swapped positions this week. Gravel grabbed third, while Schatz slipped to fourth.

Gravel trailed Schatz by a fair margin entering the week. A pair of top fives from Volusia aged out of Gravel's total, but Schatz lost the benefit of two victories and the 100 percentage points they provided.

After Abreu, the second biggest mover on the grid was Sheldon Haudenschild, who advanced from 24th to 10th. Two poor DIRTcar Nationals showings aged out of his formula. While the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions does not count in the FloSports Sprint Car Power Rankings, Haudenschild built some confidence by winning one of its races in his native Ohio.
