Jeremy Clements and Ross Chastain ran into one another during the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday. One of the NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers would head to the infield care center later in the afternoon, but it had nothing to do with the on-track incident.

Under a rain delay just prior to the end of segment two, Clements grabbed Chastain by the shoulders. Chastain responded by punching him in the face.

Before the resumption of the race, Clements came out of the infield care center sporting a pair of sunglasses.

"With our two teams, we run together every week, nose to tail, one in front of the other, and we've run into each other for three years now," Chastain told TV reporters after the race.

"Had a bunch of off-the-track stuff happen, I've been good with it. Feel like I've been the bigger man in a lot of cases. I started it today."

Darrell Wallace Jr. and Brennan Poole ran into one another, which caused the field to stack up.

Entering turn one, Chastain performed a bump-and-run maneuver on Clements and drove past.

"Then the caution came out for rain and he got on my back bumper on the frontstretch and tried to wreck us," Chastain said. "We got out, and I kind of forgot about it to be honest. Somebody grabbed me by my shoulders and kind of pushed me. I just turned around and saw who it was."

Both drivers returned to their cars when the race was restarted. Clements finished in 17th place, while Chastain took 31st.

Chastain and Clements were both called to the NASCAR hauler to further discuss the matter following the race.
