It has been a little less than eight months since Bryan Clauson lost his life in a turn-four crash at Kansas' Belleville High Banks Speedway, but he has not been far from the minds of open-wheel fans.

Clauson died doing what he loved--he was racing. The 27-year-old had just taken the lead in the Belleville Nationals midget race on August 6 when he tangled with a lapped car before flipping violently. As he tumbled down the track, another sprinter slammed into his car. Clauson, one of USAC's rising stars, succumbed his injuries the next day.

The Indiana Racing Memorial Association (IRMA) recently announced that it will be memorializing Clauson with a historic marker in Noblesville's Forest Park, just outside of his hometown, on April 8.

"It was apparent to all that this young man would reach the pinnacle of racing," said Brian Hasler, IRMA co-founder. "Bryan was taken far too early, but he left a lasting legacy in the sport he loved."

The unveiling of the plaque honoring Clauson will occur at 1:30 PM at Forest Park's Shelter 5, exactly eight months after his passing and on the same day as the USAC Midget Kokomo Grand Prix.

The timing of the unveiling will allow fans to stop and pay tribute on their way to Kokomo (IN) Speedway for the second night a two-day show.
