Races don't get much more exciting than last September's edition of the Fastrak World Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA.

Dennis Franklin raced under the checkers first but by the narrowest of margins around the half-mile oval. Charging hard from a 24th-place starting position, Devin Moran finished second in a thrilling three-wide battle that included 19-year-old Ryan Montgomery in third.

Franklin became the first two-time winner in the 14-year history of the event. He'll look to continue his record-breaking streak at the 2017 Fastrak World Championship on Saturday, Sept. 16, which is streaming LIVE on FloRacing.

A year ago, Montgomery led the field to green after winning the previous night's Fastrak World Challenge open to only series regulars. With Henry Hornsby III hot on Montgomery's heels, the two teenaged drivers raced door-to-door for the first 16 laps -- giving late model fans a taste of the action they would experience in the closing circuits.

In that span of time, Franklin made his way into a challenging position for the top spot and wrested it away from the dynamite duo on lap 17.

Moran was slicing through traffic himself and by lap 35, he had the fastest car on the track and moved to seventh.

A late-race caution on lap 52 set up a dash for the checkers. Moran jumped into third on lap 54. The seats in the grandstand were no longer needed as all of the fans jumped to their feet to see who would grab the $15,000 check. The final five laps were run with three disciplined drivers running three-wide all the way to the checkers.

Franklin, Moran, and Montgomery were joined by Ross Bailes and Cla Knight rounding out the top five.
