Jason Hughes won back-to-back races at Salina High Banks Speedway in Pryor Creek, Oklahoma, and 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas, over the weekend to take the points lead in United States Modified Series Hunt for the Casey's Cup competition.

On Saturday night at Salina, Hughes had his work cut out for him. Starting 10th in the A-Main, it took the entire race to track down and pass the leaders. On Sunday night at 81 Speedway, he led flag to flag.

Dillard rocketed out to a lead from the pole position at Salina only to get tracked down by Terry Phillips on lap 23. Phillips held onto the lead for the next 11 laps and appeared to be well on his way to Victory Lane before he lost a tire three-fourths of a lap from the end.

Phillips was navigating the high groove when the tire decided to leave the track early, slewing the No. 75 hard left. Hughes was trailing and narrowly missed the stricken car and then survived a green-white-checkered finish to grab the $3,000-to-win feature. That was the only lap Hughes led.

Sunday night was a little less dramatic. Hughes sat on the outside of the front row and beat pole sitter Ryan Gustin to the flag stand on lap one. Hughes led the rest of the way to pace the field for all 40 trips around the track and pocketed another $4,500 for the effort.

More importantly, Hughes grabbed the points lead over Stormy Scott by a margin of 1,256 to 1,235.

Scott ran respectably in both races with his fourth- and 10th-place results at 81 Speedway.

Dillard was the other big points beneficiary in the two nights. Along with Hughes, he swept the top five by finishing second in Oklahoma and a third in Kansas.

Rookie Travis Saurer rounded out the podium at Salina in third, while Hughes' teammate Gustin came in second at 81 Speedway.
