To promote the world's best female racers on a larger stage, the 2017 Women's Professional Motocross Championship schedule has been redesigned to coincide with some of motocross' biggest events.

The eight-event slate will give racers the opportunity the compete over the course of six months.

The Women's Professional Motocross Championship -- or WMX -- kicks off with its traditional season opener on March 13 at the Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross in Daytona Beach, Florida. Following the opener, WMX racers will move on to Wortham, Texas, on March 25 for the Freestone Spring Championship and then to the California Classic Motocross Championship in San Diego on April 9.

"We are very excited to have the most robust schedule in recent memory," WMX event director Tim Cotter said in a release. "With stops at the most premier events in America, our elite athletes will race in front of more people and experience more media exposure than ever before."

For the first time ever, the WMX will take place during the AMSOIL Arenacross season finale in Las Vegas on May 7. At the Orleans Arena, WMX riders will race in front of one of the largest crowds on the motocross circuit.

The next three events -- in Rancho Cordova, California, on May 18-19; Lakewood, CA, on June 2; and Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, on June 16 -- will coincide with the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships.

In its season finale, the WMX will crown its champion at Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, on August 5. WMX racers will vie for the coveted title on the fifth and final day of the 36th annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Championship.
